Annual General Meeting 2020

The Lithuanian Folk Art Institute (LFAI) is a North American non-profit organization devoted to preserving Lithuanian heritage through its traditional arts and crafts. Since 1977, the Institute provides a forum for collaboration and communication among folk artists and folk art aficionados in the diaspora. Our mission is to continue the preservation of traditional folk art by archiving material and providing opportunities for scholarship and learning.

Due to the current conditions of COVID-19, our AGM this year will be held online, rather than in person, at 1:30 p.m. (EDT) on June 6, 2020.

The session will cover current activities, special projects, our outreach initiatives and an update on our ambitious national costume archive including new content. We will have an open Q&A session at the end. All ideas and comments are welcome.

As part of our AGM, we are excited to feature a presentation on flax and linen that will showcase the process from field to finished garment and its importance in Lithuanian culture. This will be presented by Danute Mileikiene, a fibre artist from Lithuania now living in Boston. She grew up surrounded by folk artistry and continues to inspire young and old through hands on workshops and her own artwork.

To join the session, please send your name and email address to so that we may send you an invitation. Everyone is welcome but only members are allowed to vote. If you haven’t yet, please update your $10 membership fee through our Paypal portal.

If you are not a member – please join, we warmly welcome you to our group!
