Once again, LTFAI is hosting In Person Folk Art Workshops. LTFAI is offering two days of beginner-friendly workshops this fall, featuring live, in-person sessions with folk art experts. Sessions are longer this year to allow participants to complete or make substantial progress on their crafts. Our agenda is based on results from our recent survey with four of the most popular crafts you said you want to do.
This is beginner friendly and will be a series of live in person sessions (in english) with our folk art experts.
Day 1

Session A
9:00 am – 12:30 pm
Šiaudinukai – Make a large traditional straw Christmas ornament (sodas)

Session B
1:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Audimas – Make a traditional woven sash
Day 2

Session C
9:00 am – 12:30 pm
Karpinai – Make a cut paper art piece using traditional patterns and techniques

Session D
1:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Tapyba – Paint a small keepsake box in a similar style to traditional dowry chests

Hours
There will be 2 sessions throughout the day. Folk Art workshops are from 9:00am – 4:30pm with a light lunch included with all-day registration.

Cost & Registration
Please note that prices have gone up since last year and we are hoping to break even on the event this time. Thank you for your understanding.
- Each individual session (A, B, C or D) – $90 CAD
- Full Day (Day 1- AB or Day 2 – CD incl lunch) – $180 CAD
- 2 Full days (all sessions ABCD incl 2 lunch) – $320 CAD ($40 discount)
The cost includes a materials fee of $15 for each of the Workshops. The materials are: Session A (straw and string), Session B (yarn and other weaving materials), Session C (paper and scissors) and Session D (wooden box and paints)
What’s Included
Workshop sessions
Light lunch (for full day participants only). Let us know if you have any dietary restrictions.
What’s not Included
Travel or accommodation expenses to attend our workshops. If you would like suggestions for lodging, send us a message. Please note that Toronto Pearson International Airport is only about 20 minutes away from the venue and there are a lot of hotel options available there.
If there’s enough interest, we can organize a dinner on the Saturday evening after the workshops. This would be casual dining at a popular local venue. Let us know if you would like to participate.
This event is in person only and there will be no streaming or recording of activities.
